What's it like trying to get a DIRECT answer from Kevin Levin ?

This picture says it all !

Trying to get a Direct answer from him is kinda like nailing Jello to a wall.

I visited his blog the other day,

And true to form his spotlight on slavery was as bright as ever !

Typical Levin, nothing new there.

 In the comments section Kevin said ---

"Ending slavery was certainly not the primary goal of the United States from the beginning to the end. The goal was preserving the Union. Slavery became a way to do that by 1863. The goal of the Confederacy from beginning to end was the preservation of slavery and white supremacy."

So that statement prompted me to ask a question --

"Wouldn’t that imply that the North was fighting for a Union 

that included the preservation of slavery ?"

Well Jell-O Man did reply but indirectly, and of course had to spin his reply --

"If the war had ended before the end of 1863 it is likely that the United States would have continued as a slaveholding nation. Of course, the war continued and slavery ended with it. That is something that all of us can celebrate. If the Confederacy had proved victorious the enslavement of roughly 4 million people would have continued. We can all be thankful that it failed."

Like I said getting Levin to admit that the North was  fighting for a Union that included

The Preservation of Slavery, is like nailing Jell-O to a wall !

Kevin Levin's shortsightedness

Every once in a while I check out Flogger Blogs,

I did so today and found Kevin being shortsighted and misinformed 

on Lee / Jackson day in Virginia.

Kevin states -

" I can say with confidence that very few people formally acknowledged the holiday. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find any formal recognition of the holiday throughout the state beyond the Sons of Confederate Veterans and other heritage groups. "

Wow !! I guess Kevin doesn't remember that Lee / Jackson Day

is a State Holiday in Virginia.

Yep it's still a State Holiday, but it ain't on any calenders I've seen.

The Left Wingers / PC crowd are trying to put it in the Memory Hole.

But it ain't dead by a long shot !

Soooo I'm thinking about sending Kevin Levin a package of raw cotton, ask him to let his students feel what it is. Then suggest having him tell his students - " Imagine you have to get the seeds out of a barn full of cotton" That way his students will understand what it was like.
I seriously doubt the kids from Boston have ever set foot in a cotton field.
 Heck for that matter I doubt many kids from Dixie have either.

How Far Will the Virginia Flaggers Go For Attention?

Silent Simpson !

Good ol Brook's so fast to hammer folks who post inaccurately.
But when one of the folks on his side of the fence does so, NOT ONE WORD !
Kevin shot his mouth off and was proven wrong.
As did quite a few commentators at his blog.
As for Kevin, he posted an apology to the Flaggers and S.C.V. but later removed it.
"NO HONOR AMONG THIEVES" I guess.

W&L made this statement----

According to our Office of Public Safety, our officers reported four occasions when they interacted with individuals who were participating in the July 26 rally sponsored by the Sons of Confederate Veterans in downtown Lexington.

The officers characterized all of these interactions as respectful. They did not record names or ages of any of the individuals.

In each instance, the officers requested individuals not to carry Confederate flags or to wear attire with Confederate emblems on the campus. The individuals all complied with these requests.

The University chose to take these extraordinary steps — and the equally extraordinary step of closing Lee Chapel for the weekend — to avoid potential incidents. The decision to implement these procedures was based on the extreme nature of many communications that we received in the days leading up to the event.

Our primary concern will always be for the safety and security of our campus community and all its members, including the many visitors that we have throughout the year. At the same time, we have been clear that we will not allow outside groups to use the campus as a platform.

Given the tenor of the communications and without knowing what we might expect on Saturday, we had no choice but to employ these measures that day. We appreciate the manner in which our public safety officers performed their duties and the polite cooperation of those with whom they interacted. We hope that this will not be necessary in the future. We will continue to take whatever steps we think are prudent in order to keep the community and our facilities safe.
