Hard to find, but still out there !

I stumbled across this at a local store today !

The Infamous " Black Confederate Figure"

I remember Kevin Levin doing a Hatchet Job on this item.
Click here or HERE to see it.
And not long after The Museum of The Confederacy as well as Treadegar pulled it off the shelves.

But just like the Pesky Black Confederates' who served during the war,
They Keep popping up !

Have A DIXIE DAY Y'all!

Once upon a time !

I do a lot of posting on Face Book.

One thing is certain,
Ya Never Know Which Post are Gonna Catch Fire --

I made a post Today and got a lot of folks liking it --

________________________________________________________________

" ONCE UPON A TIME"

____________________________________________________________________

And that was it !

No need to mention the fact that the P.C. crowd would go nuts
if a similar item were to be offered today !

And that's kinda sad !

HASBRO issued the item in 2000,
A 12" figure.
Johnny is very detailed and has a large number of nicely detailed parts.
The uniform is the shell jacket in Butternut, blue pants, socks, boots, shirt, suspenders and forage cap.
Johnny has a a British Enfield rifled musket. He also has a union equipment belt with the US up side down, bayonet with scabbard (the bayonet fits on the Enfield), canteen, cartridge box, and haversack.
Johnny also has a Battle flag.

A nicely done historical piece, the upside down buckle shows
that a bit of research was done in his manufacturing.

As I said,
It's a shame the P.C. crowd / snowflakes, would have such a huge problem with
something that has Historical Accuracy.

UPDATE

I don't usually post comments from Corey Meyer, but in the spirit of Christmas --
I'll post this one ----

"C'mon David, show us the Barbie section of your doll collection."

Sorry Corey, no Barbies, the closest thing I have is  ---

But if I had a Barbie it would be this one --

N.A.S.C.A.R. Barbie.

Remember Corey, Santa is watching you --

Merry Christmas !

It's back to the Phantom Zone -- Say Hello to Gen. Zod !

UPSIDE DOWN ?

One of the things that grinds my gears is folks making this comment --

"The Flag is Upside Down !

Even Brooks Simpson made the comment !

Yeeeesh, The Stars pointed up is a concept promoted by modern flag makers.

Lets go back to "The Day" and see a couple of flags flown by Confederate Soldiers --

Stars Up ?

Stars Up ?

There are many more, but I think you can see what I'm saying !

Sure there are many Flags with Stars Up

But just because you see one with the Stars otherwise doesn't mean it's upside down.

RACIST ?

Then when exposed he states -

I sincerely apologize for the inappropriate things I posted to social media many years ago.”

He's a day late and a dollar short with his apology.
If he has a shred of Honor he will resign !

It's doubtful he will resign -

An online petition has started it states -

To Charlottesville City Council:

In light of recently revealed anti-white racist and pro-rape comments by Wes Bellamy, he must step down from his position on the Charlottesville City Council. We will not accept a racist who looks down on "little white men", who agrees "it aint rape if she moans", who "hates blacks who talk white". He is an unfit representative for our city and the values we uphold. He must step down or be removed immediately.

I have little faith in online petitions, but signed it --

I almost gave up !

This project almost beat me.

I have a hobby of reproducing coins.

This coin almost beat me --

Many attempts and failures.

I thought this was gonna work --

Nope didn't work --

I tried a few different things
none worked

I almost gave up -
Then I tried a new method !

A rubber mold !

Took some practice

But I eventually came up with favorable results --

This is what I came up with and I think I can improve on it !

( the casting is OK now it's the painting )

Yep this was a very frustrating project,
But I didn't give up !

I felt like it a few times.

But I stuck to my guns !

Lesson learned, try new things, and learn from your mistakes !

Security guard killed in York County parking lot

Deputies are investigating a murder in the 1200 block of George Washington Memorial Highway, where they say a security guard died after being shot early Thursday morning.

The guard was escorting a man from at event at the County Grill when the man shot him, according to Lieutenant Dennis Ivey, a spokesperson for the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.

All lanes of George Washington Memorial Highway are shut down from Coventry to the Newport News line while deputies search for the suspect, Ivey said.

Workers at a nearby Royal Farms gas station told WAVY.com deputies put the store on lockdown.

The security guard’s name has not been released. Deputies have not released a description of the suspect.

( From WAVY TV 10)

We get joked on all the time, called "Barney" - "Rent a Cop" and other names, odds are this Officer was unarmed, Please pray for his family. On another day it could have been me !

SOMETIMES --

They can remove monuments all day long.
Not a lot I can do to stop them.

But there is nothing they can do to stop me from Honoring
our Confederate ancestors by placing coins on their Graves !

And I will continue to do so till I quit breathing.

And when I take my last breath, I have someone who will replace me !

MY GRANDSON!

CSS Lady Davis

History

Name: Lady Davis
Launched: 1858
Commissioned: March 1861
Decommissioned: 1862
Fate: served as private blockade runner 1862-1865; captured 1865
General characteristics
Displacement: 250 tons
Propulsion: steam engine
Armament: 1 24-pounder cannon, 1 12-pounder rifled cannon
CSS Lady Davis was a gunboat in the Confederate States Navy during the American Civil War.

Originally the Richmond iron steam tug James Gray, built at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1858, Lady Davis was purchased in March 1861 by Governor Francis Wilkinson Pickens of South Carolina, who armed her and placed in command Lieutenant William Gaillard Dozier, South Carolina Navy, with orders to thwart reinforcement of Fort Sumter by Union troops.

On May 7, 1861 Lady Davis was purchased by the Confederacy for $32,000 and commissioned in the Confederate Navy, operating thereafter along the Georgia and South Carolina coasts. Lieutenant Thomas P. Pelot, CSN, took command about 5 days later, relieving Lieutenant Edward Cantey Stockton, South Carolina Navy. At that time, the little gunboat served as flagship of Commodore Josiah Tattnall's Savannah Defense Squadron, consisting of CSS Savannah, CSS Sampson and CSS Resolute.

On May 19, Lady Davis began her career with distinction by capturing and taking into Beaufort, South Carolina the A. B. Thompson, a full-rigged ship of 980 tons and a crew of 23 out of Brunswick, Maine, whom she encountered off Savannah while on an expedition seeking the U.S. armed brig Perry. The exploit culminated in acrimonious litigation to decide whether an Army captain and a dozen of his soldiers should share in the prize money. Captain Stephen Elliott, Jr., CSA, happened to be on board and acted as pilot during the capture and afterward, while his men claimed to have helped bring in the prize.

On the following day, the crew were reenlisted into the Confederate States Navy, the State officers being replaced by regulars between then and June 1. Lady Davis's rifled gun remained the property of South Carolina, on loan, while the other, a 24-pounder howitzer, was a gift outright to the Confederacy. By November, Lieutenant John Rutledge commanded her.

She joined in the battle of Port Royal, South Carolina on November 7, 1861. Although her engines were transferred to CSS Palmetto State late in 1862, well built iron hulls were in great demand and she was able to continue her successful career as a privately owned blockade runner out of Charleston, South Carolina. With the occupation of Charleston in 1865 by Federal forces, Lady Davis was captured and turned over to the Light House Board by Admiral John A. Dahlgren, who praised her hull, while noting that she was, again, minus her machinery, whose disposition is not recorded.

How Many ?

One of the things that always saddens me is the loss of an old tree
when a storm passes through.

A couple miles away from my house I saw one today.

So large I had to take two pictures and splice them together.

I wonder "How Many" stories were shared beneath it?

How Many swings were put in it ?

How many summertime Breaks were taken in it's shade ?

How many wildlife creatures made it their home ?

For me it's always a sad event.

Overlooking the Dedication !

One of the things the Floggers often tout is the ongoing protest at the VMFA.
They consider it a defeat, because the flags have not returned.

Hmmmmmm ?  I look at it as an ongoing battle that shows the resilience and determination
of the Virginia Flaggers.

Twice a week for 5 years the Flaggers show up !
Peacefully and respectfully our views are presented.
The Virginia Flaggers seem to have more Determination at Flagging than Levin does at Teaching.

Yes I said "Our" views because I consider myself a Virginia Flagger.

Now then, Despite the implications by Levin, Simpson and their followers
I have never met a White Supremacist at any of the functions I've attended.

I've never received any racist communications in my MANY E-mails with the group.

It has been 100% about honoring our Confederate Ancestors.

Levin in his typical fashion says

"Of course there will be more flags, because there is no sign that communities across Virginia and the rest of the South have finished re-evaluating the appropriateness of Confederate iconography."

I see no need to re-evaluate The Confederate Battle Flag -

It is now what it has always been

The Soldiers Flag !

It fly's  today to HONOR the men who followed it then !

Spin it any way you want, trump up any connection you can dream up,
and nothing changes.

It's about HONOR !

Take a closer look - PLEASE !

I received a comment on my last post about the Flaggers 5th Pick Nick =

"It is good to see that pictures of the crowd were kept to a minimum so that those Yankee bloggers cannot identify the usual the usual White Supremacist that were in attendance !

Typical comment from a Yankee Blatherskite.
He had the guilty verdict in before he saw the evidence !

So I sent this Scaramouch a link to a page with hundreds of pictures taken at the event !

Cause I got nothing to hide !

Who knows what or who he will find !

But you can bet your Bippie if he doesn't find anything, he'll create something !

And so it goes ---

The 2016 Flaggers Pick Nick.

The 2016 VA Flagger Pick Nick was like the others, it was a family Affair !

Great food and good times with family and friends.

The pick nick is an event I look forward to each year, Regardless of comments made by
Yankee Bloggers the Event is Family Oriented - No alcohol, sheets or burning crosses.

I got a close up look at the "Flaggin Wagon"
A wonderful addition to the Flagger's on going mission.

This year a "Boot Camp" was held for children --

Teaching children about getting in line and marching !
Sharing the importance of Team Work and Unity !

My neighbor Susan Caraway, and friends provided fantastic music !
It was cool to run into a neighbor that far from home.

This is Part of my Family, everyone that could make it !

Next Year the twins Charlie and Logan will be big enough !

As I said the pick nick was for Family !

I was able to pass out about 100 - M-10s

As I handed them out I told folks to find a Confederate soldier who deserved one !
I got a good response from everyone who got one !

Yep it was a good time !
I'm looking forward to next year !
