UPSIDE DOWN ?

One of the things that grinds my gears is folks making this comment --

"The Flag is Upside Down !

Even Brooks Simpson made the comment !

Yeeeesh, The Stars pointed up is a concept promoted by modern flag makers.

Lets go back to "The Day" and see a couple of flags flown by Confederate Soldiers --

Stars Up ?

Stars Up ?

There are many more, but I think you can see what I'm saying !

Sure there are many Flags with Stars Up

But just because you see one with the Stars otherwise doesn't mean it's upside down.

  1. Thank you! I had been told for years that if the stars weren't pointed upright then the flag was upside down. It was the Commander in my SCV camp who first alerted me to the fact that the historical flags often did not have upright stars. After seeing dozens of historic Confederate flags at museums and in books, I can confirm that he and you are absolutely correct! Thanks again!

  3. The stars point to either side of the cross arm, or they point parallel to the cross arm, depending upon the maker's preference.
