It's a nonsensical argument that's based on a false premise. Nothing is getting destroyed, only our understanding of history is evolving which happens all the time.
As for "nothing is getting destroyed" , I guess that all depends on how you look at the situation.
When I worked in Charolettsville, about 1 block away from Lee Park - I ate many lunches there and was inspired by the majestic statue, as well as the Jackson statue by the court house. Wonderful statues to Brave men, who defended Virginia, against an invading army.
