Justice Stevens stated -
Well I agree with the original intent of the 2nd amendment !
The free and sovereign states had a right to protect themselves from an oppressive Government.
That is what the War Between the States was about !
But to repeal or abolish it is lunacy !
The threat of an oppressive Government will ALWAYS exist !
But if the 2nd amendment were to be repealed what's next ?
Could the 1st amendment be in danger ?
Repeal one and the domino effect is sure to follow !
Old Abe said - "A house divided against itself cannot stand."
Well Dave Tatum says - " A house with no foundation will fall !"
The Constitution and its amendments are the Foundation of America !
Start removing pieces of the foundation and a collapse shall occur !
I'm thankful Justice Stevens is retired.
He should be playing Bingo on Tuesday nights,
Not making critical decisions regarding national affairs.
But he does retain his 1st amendment right,
unless someone decides that it should be repealed as well !
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms,
shall not be infringed.
